October 15, 1934 – September 27, 2025
RONALD DEAN "RON" CLAY, age 90, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born on October 15, 1934, in Fayette County to the late Leonard and Mary (Mathews) Clay.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Thelma Clay, and siblings, Kenny, Arnold, Bob, Gary Clay, and Wanda McCarty.
Ron graduated from Fairfield High School in Leesburg, Ohio. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He went on to work at Med-O-Pure, NCR, and Pennington Bread before spending twenty-four years with the Fayette County Engineer's Office.
A lifelong member of the South Side Church of Christ, Ron served as an elder for many of his seventy years of membership. He was also an active member of the Good Hope Lions Club, where he enjoyed organizing candy bag sales to support scholarships and community projects.
Ron was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds and cherished his weekly coffee visits with his friends. He especially loved making pancakes for his grandchildren and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirty years, Judy Clay; his children, Kari (Cliff) Lago, David Clay, Kendra (Randy) Sparkman, and Dan (Angela) Clay. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Julie (Tom) Wilson, and stepson, Jason Hill. Ron's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Katie, Danielle, Aimee, Tiffany, Levi, Zoee, Kalie, Alec, Beth, Abby, Thad, and step-granddaughter, Natalie; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Ron will be remembered for his deep faith, dedication to his community, and the love he had for his family. His generosity, sense of humor, and kind spirit left an imprint on all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the South Side Church of Christ, 921 S. Fayette St., Washington CH, OH 43160, with Pastor Todd Maurer officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the South Side Church of Christ, Good Hope Lions Club, or to Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County.
