RUBY M. ATER, age 92, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 1:00 a.m. at the St. Catherine's Manor. She was born on June 12, 1922 in Washington CH to Edward Sr. and Mae Leach Stewart. She was a 1942 Washington High School graduate. She had worked at Pennington Bakery for more than 37 years, Mac Tools and also the Record Herald and The Advertiser. She had attended the First Christian Church, enjoyed sewing and going to yard sales. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Ater, daughter Ruby "Mae" Snyder, grandchild Rochelle Snyder, brothers Kenneth Stewart and Edward Stewart Jr. and her sister, Helen Ruth Iles. Survivors include her children Sharon (Richard) Thornton, Roger Ater (special friend Wendy Adams) and Robin Strahler; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousins Larry and Dorothy Stewart and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Todd Maurer officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery.
