RUTH ELLEN EVANS, age 74, of New Holland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at her home while surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 24, 1949 in Ross County, Ohio to the late Charles Albert and Gladys Kathleen (Thacker) Jones. She was a graduate of Adena High School. Ruth retired from Fayette County Memorial Hospital where she had worked as a secretary in the Outpatient Clinic. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Evans, whom she married on October 25, 1968; great-granddaughter, Brynli Colter; and siblings, Johnny, Sam, Bill, Rosemary, Shirley, and Dorothy.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Sue Reeb (Danny Reeb) and a devoted friend, Amy Huston; grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Evans (Justin Beechler), and Joshua Duane Atwood (Laci Speakman); great-grandchildren, Zaiden, Mason, Zoey, Brink, and Zailyn; and siblings, David "Mouse" (Gayle) Jones, Charles "Bo" Jones, and Thomas "Butch" Jones. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Jones officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow and burial with be held at the Browns Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
