IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samantha Sue
(Self) Garrison
May 4, 1982 – December 5, 2024
SAMANTHA SUE (SELF) GARRISON, age 42, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Samantha, who left this world far too soon on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 11:23 p.m., at her mother's home. Sam was met at heaven's door by her father, Stephen Self; cherished grandparents, Gene and Sue Doyle and Robert "Bob" and Dorthy Self; uncles, Sam and Bobby Self, Matt Miller, and Barry Hidy; father-in-law, Vernon Garrison; and nephew, Marshall Banks. While our hearts ache in this time of loss, we find peace in knowing that Sam is now surrounded by the love of those who preceded her.
Born on May 4, 1982, Sam completed the Self family with her two older brothers and parents; she brought light, love, and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Sam was raised in New Holland and was a 2000 graduate of Washington Senior High School. Sam was currently employed at the Adena Regional Medical Center Pharmacy in Chillicothe but had previously worked at Walmart Pharmacy in Washington CH for seventeen years.
Sam was a force of nature—strong-willed, funny, and full of life. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, often without even realizing the impact she had. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.
In her own quiet way, Sam was a cornerstone of our community. Whether it was a warm smile, a helping hand, or a quick-witted remark that could lift the heaviest of days, she was everything that so many of us aspire to be.
Sam adored her daughters, Kendal, and Karley, and she gave them a childhood full of love and laughter. We can only hope they grow up knowing the extraordinary woman their mother was—a shining example of strength, compassion, and grace.
Sam is survived by her husband of sixteen years, Rick Garrison; daughters, Kendal and Karley Garrison; mother, Debbie Self; brothers, Brandon (April) Self and Shane Self; sisters-in-law, Teresa (Sid) Raisch and Renee (Joe) Banks; brother-in-law, Kevin (Amber) Garrison; nieces, Alora Self, Surina Kleidt, Cleo and Olivia Garrison, and Katie (Garrison) Wright; nephews, Parker, Peyton, and Tristan Self, Thomas (Cheyanne) Ball, Garrison Banks, and Owen, Kevin, and Christian Raisch; great nephew, Killian Ball; mother-in-law, Wanda Garrison; aunts, Jeannie (Dan) Schleigh, Missy Wilkerson, Pam (Mark) Johnson, and Claudia Hidy; and her Hospice caregiver, Eileen Doyle. In addition to her beloved family, Sam leaves behind a circle of cherished friends who were family or became like family, Toni (Writsel) Speakman, Stephanie (Johnson) Whalen, Amy McBee, and Toni Knox, as well as countless friends, cousins, her church congregation (New Martinsburg Christian Fellowship) and neighbors who will miss her deeply. Her legacy is one of love, joy, and unwavering presence.
A Celebration of Sam's life will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Washington CH with Pastor Tom Knauff officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
The family asks those attending to join us for fellowship and dinner following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Kendal and Karley Garrison Fund at Merchants National Bank in Washington CH or that you simply take a moment to be present for someone you love, as Sam always was.
Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
