SHANNON LEE MCCRARY, age 59, of Yelm, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at his home in Yelm, Washington. He was born on March 10, 1966, in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late O.D. McCrary and Doris Elizabeth (Thomas) McCrary. Shannon graduated from Washington High School in 1984. He furthered his education at Barton College Kansas receiving an associate degree in general studies.
Shannon proudly served in the Unites States Army from February 18, 1986, to June 30, 2012, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class and earning numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including tours and assignments to Iraq, Bosnia, Panama, South Korea and across the United States. He retired after 26 years of service from Fort Stewart, Georgia where he worked as a Senior Operation Sergeant. Shannon married his wife Tanya on August 2, 2014, in Augusta, Georgia and later moved to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington in 2017.
Following his distinguished military service, Shannon joined the Amazon team as a Warehouse Associate, where he worked for over 10 years. Known for his dedication, fairness, and compassion he left a lasting impact on his managers, peers, and fellow associates he worked with. He was an influential leader and was a huge part of the Amazon BFI3 family. Shannon was a proud veteran, who was a friend to everyone he met. He was caring and always offered a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed watching sports, exercising, listening to old school rap and hip-hop music, and relaxing with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Tanya Siatuu-McCrary, daughters Shadaisha McCrary, Mina Siatuu, Alexis Desselles, Tempest Ryan, granddaughter Addisyn Desselles and siblings LeValle (Mary) McCrary of Washington CH, Otis McCrary of Columbus, Delmar (Rossana) McCrary of Columbus, Celeste (Oscar) Aleman of Columbus niece and nephews, Jamrin McCrary, Jamisah McCrary, John Ferguson, Jennifer Simms. Also surviving are several cousins and host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
