Lonnie "Dean" Penrod
August 21, 1950 – January 25, 2022
STAFF SGT. LONNIE "DEAN" PENROD, age 71, of Washington CH, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 3:48 p.m. at the Adena Fayette Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. His death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born on August 21, 1950 in Fayette County to Robert, Jr. and Lydia C. (Upperman) Penrod. He attended Washington High School and Bliss College in Columbus. Dean proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps and the US Army for 28 years. He was a 21-year employee at Rotech HealthCare in Washington CH.
Dean was an avid bowler and he loved watching NASCAR and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He attended the Church of the Nazarene as a small boy and returned to the same church as an adult in 1981; where he gave his heart to Jesus and remained a faithful member until the end.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Ryan Christopher Penrod; brothers, Ronnie, Johnnie, and Tommy Penrod; niece, Mindy Penrod; nephew, Joe Pennington; and father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Delia Pennington, as well as several aunts and uncles.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Judy C. (Pennington) Penrod, whom he married on September 3, 1977; his son, Brandon "Dean" Penrod; brother, Donny Penrod; half-sister, Becky Webster of Springfield, Ohio; and brother-in-law, Jim Pennington of Paintsville, Kentucky. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 990 SR 41 SW, Washington CH, OH 43160 with Pastor Dan McLean and Pastor Dan Justice officiating with burial to follow at the Springlawn Cemetery in Williamsport, Ohio. Family and friends may visit at the church on Monday evening from 4-7:00 p.m.
Masks and other facial coverings are not mandatory but highly suggested per family.
