THOMAS JOSEPH "TOM" BOWERS, age 86, of Dayton, formerly of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his home.

He was born on September 11, 1935 in Perry County, Ohio to William and Mabel Irene (Householder) Bowers. He was a 1953 graduate of New Lexington High School. Tom worked in the grocery business until his retirement in 2012. After retirement, he drove a school bus for the Vandalia School System. Tom was a faithful member at the Christian Life Center in Dayton and the South Side Church of Christ while living in Fayette County. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school, reading his Bible, serving on, and leading the hospital visitation team, and being with his beloved family.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Sharon F. Cowans, and Muriel Jane Daughtrey; siblings, William (Ruth) Bowers, and Jay (Martha) Bowers; and sister-in-law, Lucille Bowers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Georgia Carolyn (Beedy) Bowers; children, Gail L. (Mike) Powers, Mark J. (Corinna) Bowers, Beth I. (Stuart) Schaefer, and Theresa L. (Dan) Crawford; grandchildren, Steve (Terry) Cowans, Keith Cowans, Jeff (Marsha) Cowans, Scott Birchfield, Aaron (Stacy) Powers, Bryan (Liz) Powers, Erica Schaefer, David (Amber) Schaefer, Faith (Christopher) Johnson, Hannah (Nathan) Hoch, and Olivia (Aaron) Shafer; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Aaron, Michelle, Tony, Lindsay, Jessica, Jeremy, Tyler, Donovan, Bradley, Amelia, Zoey, Adalynn, Lydia, Ella, and James; several great-great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Joe Cowans, and Dave Daughtrey; siblings, Dick Bowers, and Paul (Sharon) Bowers; and his canine companion, Molly. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Bloomingburg Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
