TINA LOUISE HAYNER, age 65, of Washington Court House, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 1:56 PM, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 9, 1961, in the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia, Tina was a daughter of Charles Ernest Hayner and Wilda Evelyn (Prater) Hayner.
A woman of deep, unwavering Christian faith, Tina lived her life rooted in the grace, love, and promises of the Lord. Her strong belief was her anchor throughout her life, guiding her with strength, kindness, and a steady heart throughout every season.
Family was Tina’s greatest joy and proudest achievement. She adored all her family deeply, but held a tender, extra-special place in her heart for her grandchildren who were truly the light of her life. Whether sharing stories, spoiling them as all grandmothers do, or simply watching them grow, being their grandmother was her favorite role in the world.
Tina especially cherished her beloved dogs – both past and present, and found endless delight in their loyal companionship over the years. An avid nature lover, Tina also spent many peaceful hours birdwatching, finding joy and reflection in the beauty of God’s creation.
The ocean was her sanctuary, and Virginia Beach held a truly special place in her heart. She loved the sun, the sand, and the soothing sound of the waves. Her deep connection to Virginia Beach was further enriched by her lifelong admiration and support the U.S. Navy, a devotion inspired by her father Charles’ proud naval service.
Left to continue her legacy include her eldest daughter Brooke (Justin) Steen, and their children: Elektra, Archer, Sailor, Evony, Arrow, and Safera Steen; her youngest daughter Paige Shears-Hayner, and her children Claire and James Jones; sister Nina (Dana) Willett, brother Charles “CJ” (Kathy) Hayner III; nephews JJ, Charlie, Austin, Braxton, and Bryor, her niece Amy; as well as many extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM in Fairview Cemetery, 13260 State Route 41, Jeffersonville, Ohio, 43128, with Reverend Justin Steen officiating. A time of fellowship will follow at the Jeffersonville Lions Club, 1 Railroad St, Jeffersonville, OH 43128.
The Hayner family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredible nurse and aides of Adena Hospice whose compassionate care and kindness brought so much comfort in her final days. Special thanks are also extended to the Fayette County Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels program in Washington Court House for their dedication and endless support. Additionally, the family is profoundly to all their family and friends who have reached out with love, prayers, continuous support, and warm meals during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.summersfuneralhome.com.
