IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Travis Dean
Penwell
November 15, 1976 – January 2, 2024
TRAVIS DEAN PENWELL, age 47, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his home with his mother by his bedside.
Travis went peacefully to his Heavenly Home with Jesus and the family and friends who loved him so and were waiting for his arrival. What a wonderful reunion!
He was born on November 15, 1976 in Fayette County to Freddie, Jr. and Carmen Eva (Bradshaw) Penwell.
Travis was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Penwell, Jr.; grandparents, Charles B. and Agatha Bradshaw and Fred, Sr. and Mary Lou (Penwell) Crouch; and aunt and uncle, Iris and Donnie Duncan.
Travis was an only child, and he was always such a joy. He loved to laugh, and make others smile and laugh with his witty humor.
He was a 1995 graduate of Washington High School. He lived all his life in this area. He enjoyed vacationing to Graceland, "The Home of Elvis Presley," Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Travis also had a love and passion for music and was always singing along to the music that was playing throughout the house. He enjoyed playing his drum set, conga drums, and bongo drums. He could most generally be found strumming his guitar and singing softly. Elvis was of course his favorite musician, but he also loved country music and R&B as well.
He participated in the Fayette County Special Olympics for fifteen years; he was in the Bowling Program with several of his good friends.
All the holidays were celebrated each year, but his birthday was the highlight event. He looked forward to celebrating with his family and friends. As his health began to deteriorate, he still looked with anticipation to his birthday celebration. Family and friends would send cards and a party was always held. Oh, how he enjoyed that time!
Travis will be missed beyond measure by his loving mother, Carmen E. Penwell, who survives. He will also be greatly missed by his aunts and uncles, Sylvia Bradshaw, Don and Diane Bradshaw, Gene and Tena Bradshaw, Jeff and Barbara Schiller, and Jenny and Steven Penwell. Also surviving are many cousins and a host of friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Marta Gryniuk, MD, the Adena Fayette Medical Center, and ProMedica Hospice; and for all those who cared for Travis so tenderly during his final days. A special heartfelt thanks to his aunt, Sylvia Bradshaw and his special nurse, Brenda Eggleton for all the love and devotion they provided for myself and Travis.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at The Judy Memorial Chapel at Washington Cemetery, 1741 Washington Ave., Washington CH, OH 43160, with Chaplain DeVon Davis officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery.
