Obituary

Vernon "Gene" Clay, 85, Xenia died on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 23, 1931 in Fayette County, the son of Harry H. and Irene West Clay. He graduated in 1949 from Washington CH high school and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Armco Steel after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife Betty Medary Clay and his children Roxy Hensley, Washington CH, Michael (Vicki) Clay, Washington CH and Penny Ludington, Xenia, five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and siblings Norman "Doc" Clay and Raymond Clay. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Everett. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:30 AM at the Summers Funeral Home with military honors accorded at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 until 11:30.
