VIRGINIA LEE MERRITT, age 81, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 8:34 a.m. at her son's home. She was born on February 17, 1933 in Springfield, Ohio to Lee and Lucille Godfrey Sheridan. She lived most of her life in the Columbus and Washington CH area. She was a 1951 Washington High School graduate. She had worked at Sugar Creek Packing Company and served as vice-president of the Meat Packers Union #1059 where she had received an award for her 34 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed going to various churches, playing euchre and bingo, bowling, casinos, spending time with her family and was known as a very giving person. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Merritt, children Dennis Merritt, who was a twin, daughter at infancy, Rita Lucille Merritt and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include her children Michael R. (Jennifer) Merritt, Terry Merritt, Sherry Cox, Frankie Merritt Jr. and fiance Evelyn, Wendy Merritt, Stevie (Sheri) Merritt and Margie Sheridan (Rick Ingoldsby); 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings Joann (Ed) Forsythe, Bob (Jane) Sheridan as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery.
