Obituary

WILLIAM F. 'BILL' JONES, age 89 years, 7 months and 5 days, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. He was born on August 26, 1926 in Fayette County to Grover and Sarah Hardman Jones. He was a 1944 graduate of Frankfort High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Bill was a member of the Dog Division Red Devils, 88th Infantry and the Heavy Weapons crew. He had worked as a repairman for Fairley Hardware and was a maintenance supervisor at the Chillicothe Correctional Institute for over 30 years. He was a member of the PERI and PERS, Farm Bureau and the South Side Church of Christ. He enjoyed working in his yard, electronics as he had worked as a radio/tv/appliance repairman, cooking, working on his computer, riding his Harley, and especially the trips that he and his wife took to Chicago and Arizona. The family states that he was always a "peace maker" with a "kind, giving soul". Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his son John Franklin Jones, his grandson Brian Heath Grooms and siblings Wesley, Virgil, Richard "Casey" and Gladys Jones. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia "June" Sprouse Jones, whom he married on April 15, 1947; his children Jennifer "JJ" Jones, Bill (Debbie) Jones, and Barbara Ann Jones; grandchildren, David T. (Tonya) Funk, Thadd (Amy) Jones, Jaime (Jeff) Hulligan, Elizabeth (Kevid) Ortiz, Shawn Michael Ortiz, Richie, Marty and Tessa Grooms; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Catherine M. Rinehart of Chillicothe as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Also surviving are his beloved feline pets, Garfield and Katie and his canine companion, Harley. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery.
