WILLIAM PEYTON "PETE" ARTHUR JR., age 83, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 9:00 p.m. at Signature Healthcare of Fayette County.

He was born on October 31, 1935 in Salem, Virginia to William Peyton Sr. and Frances Moran Arthur. He was a 1953 graduate of Salem High School. After graduation, he attended Virginia Tech until entering the military. Pete proudly served his country in the US Army. He retired after thirty-five years of service with the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation where he had worked as a sales director. Pete was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed fishing and attending any event that his grandson was part of.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan Dorothy Hermann Arthur, whom he married on June 6, 1958; daughter, Mary Frances Arthur; and sister, Anne Arthur Adams.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Chad Carper; and the light of his life, grandson, Taylor Bruney. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Clary officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
