Atlee Simmons Obituary

ATLEE RAY SIMMONS, age 85, of South Charleston, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Allen View Healthcare Center in Springfield, Ohio. Atlee Ray was born November 19, 1935 in Elliott County, Kentucky to Greene and Ollie Simmons.

Atlee Ray was a lifetime resident of Greene County, and a farmer all of his life. He loved serving the Lord, and spending time with his family. Atlee Ray also enjoyed going hunting and fishing and liked to travel. He was a member of Grace Community Church in South Solon.

Atlee Ray is survived by his wife of sixty years; Betty Johnson Simmons. Together, they had five children; Robin (Ralph) Pyles of South Solon, Steve (Melissa) Simmons of Jamestown, Milt (Joan) Simmons of Hillsboro, Bruce Simmons of South Solon and John (Heather) Simmons of South Charleston. He had ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, as well as multiple children who referred to him as “grandpa”.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in the Grace Community Church in South Solon with Pastor Bruce Sigman officiating. Burial will follow in the South Solon Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those in attendance who wish to wear a mask are encouraged to do so. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home of Washington Court House.
