AVONELLE WOODROW, age 90, of Washington Court House, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Court House Manor in Washington C.H. Born on November 15, 1934, in Sabina, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Herbert J. and Almeda Bernard Pollard.
Avonelle was raised on a farm in Fayette County, she liked to talk about life on the “Old Homeplace” to her family. She graduated from Sabina High School and enjoyed gardening in her younger years. More recently, she enjoyed working puzzles and word searches, crocheting and cross stitching and made her family many beautiful blankets and throws.
Survivors include her children, Greg, Mark and Nell Woodrow, all of Washington C.H.; her granddaughter, Stephanie Cale; and her sisters, Eleanor Harris of Sunbury, Nancy Samples of Delaware and Carolyn Case of Longview, TX.
In addition to her parents, Avonelle was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, William V. “Bill” Woodrow on October 16, 2024; and by her son, David Woodrow in 1987.
In keeping with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no viewing or visitation will be held. A private burial by the family will be held at a later date at Washington Cemetery.
As an expression of thanks for the great care to their mother, the family suggests, memorial contributions in Avonelle’s name be made to Heartland Hospice, 116 Morris Road, Circleville, Ohio 43113.
