BARRY WAYNE HIDY, age 68, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:43 p.m. while surrounded by his beloved family and friends.
He was born on July 13, 1953 in Fayette County to Alfred and Maude (Harper) Hidy. He was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School. Barry had worked at Cortec and the Yusa Corporation. He was an active member at the Grace Community Church.
Barry was a loving and devoted husband, father, Papa, and uncle. Barry never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends including Allen and Bonnie Willoughby, Roddy West, Bruce Denen, Bobby Seymour, Jerry Howell, Greg Fields, special nephew, Jason Self, and special cousin, Mark Sheridan. He loved teaching Bible study and youth group, going to the beach, backpacking, riding his motorcycle and listening to music.
Barry was best known for his contagious smile, being a walking billboard for Jesus with his hats and shirts, being a "Jesus Freak” and opening The Way Station also known as "The Jesus House” for his Bible and Prayer groups back in the seventies.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Kay (Self) Hidy, whom he married on October 29, 1983; his children, Justin (Sarah) Hidy, Lacey (Brock) West, and Brett (Paige) Hidy; grandchildren, Jaden, Tayler, Ronin, Emery, and Ren; sister, Rhonda (Gene) Pfaff; sisters-in-law, Debbie Self and Cindy Self; nieces, Samantha Garrison and Shawn Hollingsworth; and nephews, Josh Self, Brandon Self, and Shane Self.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Grace Community Church, 525 Glenn Ave., Washington CH, OH 43160, on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jay Lucas and Allen Willoughby officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Church on Thursday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
