Bernice Marie Grooms

BERNICE MARIE GROOMS, age 69, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Court House Manor.

She was born on May 18, 1955 in Fayette County to the late Richard M. and Lula M. (Partridge) Ackley. She attended Washington High School. Bernice was a housewife and stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed get-togethers with her family, horses, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by brothers, John Scott Ackley, and Dewey Ackley; nephew, Dewey Ackley II; and best friend, Michael Morris.

Survivors include her children, Roni (Travis) Allen, and James (Marie) Stolzenburg; grandchildren, Ryan Thomas and his fiancé, Jennifer Mingle, Zack Thomas and his fiancé, Breanne Perry, Sara Thomas and her fiancé, Skylar Fox, Jordyn Allen, Jaden Allen, and Randon Stolzenburg; great-grandchildren, Paislee, Carlee, Titan, and Zoey; siblings, Juanita Spears, Sara (Ron) Helmick, and Richard (Deanne) Ackley; sister-in-law, Karla Ann Ackley; and her second husband who took care of her until the end, Frank Stolzenburg. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Jeffersonville Church of Christ (83 N. Main St., Jeffersonville, OH, 43128) on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 4-6:00 p.m.
