Betty Cook Obituary

BETTY LOU COOK, age 76, of Bloomingburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family. She had been a patient at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe since Friday, November 3, 2023.

Betty was born on September 27, 1947 in Franklin County to the late Jack Erich and Geraldine Anders Armstrong. She was a 1965 graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. Betty dedicated over 40 years of service to the Miami Trace Local School District where she served as the Assistant Transportation Coordinator. After her retirement, she enjoyed working at Rod’s Western Palace as well as Lakota of Ohio.

Betty married her best friend and love of her life, David Cook, in 1967. They were married 56 years and spent them enjoying their daughter, grandchildren, and family on their farm. Together they devoted endless hours to the 4-H program where they served as advisors and enjoyed watching their family, friends, and 4-H members exhibit their projects. As members of Staunton United Methodist, they enjoyed attending church and special gatherings together.

Betty was dedicated to her beloved family. She was present for all of their activities and was continually encouraging with her smiles, hugs, and outpouring of love. Betty had a zest for life and enjoyed traveling to horse shows, dancing, and vacationing in the sunshine with her family. Her love of life and others were evident and will be greatly missed.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Geraldine Armstrong and her brother, Robert Armstrong. She is survived by her loving husband, David Cook; devoted daughter and son-in law, Christy and Heath Johnson; granddaughters, Madison, Peyton, and Karlee Johnson; sister, Molly Mickle; and brother, Mark (Brenda) Armstrong. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who love her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to share their condolences on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 10-1:00 p.m. at The Gathering Place Church in Washington Court House. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Mark Armstrong officiating. Burial will take place at the Bloomingburg Cemetery.
