BETTY OLIVE SIMMONS, age 83, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton.
She was born on April 11, 1941 in Peebles, Ohio to the late Wilbur Edward and Ada Olive (Williams) Johnson.
Betty was a faithful and active member at Grace Community Church in South Solon. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, adoptive grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved God, spending time with her family, singing, gardening, and traveling.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Atlee Ray Simmons, whom she married on February 28, 1961; two brothers, seven sisters, and great granddaughter, Madison Sue.
Survivors include her children, Robin (Ralph) Pyles, Steve (Melissa) Simmons, Milt (Joan) Simmons, Bruce Simmons, and John (Heather) Simmons; siblings, Lula Ater, Cora Story, and Helen Kelley; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and another great grandchild arriving in November. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Grace Community Church, 7224 E. Main St., South Solon, OH 43153, with Pastor Bruce Sigman officiating with burial to follow at the South Solon Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
