Bobbie Jean Smith

BOBBIE JEAN SMITH, age 81, of Washington Court House, passed away at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at her home. She was born on June 18, 1943, in Fayette County and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Hudnell Oyer. On October 27, 1962, she married Thomas R. Smith, Sr. who preceded her in death on November 2, 2020.

Bobbie was a 1961 graduate of Washington Senior High School. She most recently had worked in management at Goodwill, and also worked at Advanced Auto Parts in Jeffersonville, K-Mart in Washington C.H. and Roney’s Auto Parts. Bobbie’s most favorite past time was enjoying the company of her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas R. “Rich” (Mendy) Smith and Christopher “Scott” Smith; her grandchildren, AJ Smith, Courtney (Dustin) Dunn and Jarrett Smith; and her great-grandkids, Karsyn, Koltyn, Kayde, Delanie and Ellie. Also surviving are her siblings, Ron Oyer, Sharon Smith and Robin Taylor.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Bobbie is preceded in death be several brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, in the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Duvall officiating. Burial to follow in the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
