BOBBY GENE KELLEY, age 91, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 12:08 p.m. at Fayette County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 16, 1929 in Fayette County to Grover and Leona (Stultz) Kelley. He was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School and a proud member of the Blue Lion Football team. Bobby was a long-time member of the United States Trotting Association (USTA); he owned, raced, and bred numerous standardbred horses throughout the years. He retired from the Helfrich Super Market in Washington CH, Inland Products, and lastly, at the young age of 82, retired from the Miami Trace School District where he had worked as a bus driver.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandy Smith; grandson, Robbie Dean Kelley; and siblings, Reba, Thelma, Richard, Kenneth, Walter, Ivan, and Donald.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 72 years, Joleen (Chaney) Kelley; sons, Jeff (Belma) Kelley, and Randy (Linda Ramsey) Kelley; son-in-law, Jay Smith; grandchildren, Ben (Joni) Smith, Andy (Janelle Bailey) Smith, Brandon Williams, Dylan (Heidi) Kelley, Angus Kelley, Ryan (Patricia) Kelley, and Sarah Kelley; great-grandchildren, Keely, Elvi, Judah, Wilder, Wyatt, AJ, Alex, Marley, and Emma. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery with Rev. Mike Paraniuk officiating.
