Carol Copeland Obituary

CAROL KAY COPELAND, age 80, of West Milton, formerly of Washington CH, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 8:17 a.m. at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

She was born on June 13, 1940 in Adams County, Ohio to Sterling Almond and Ruth Ann (Smith) McCoy. She graduated from Franklin High School in Locust Grove, Ohio at the young age of 16. Carol moved to Columbus, Ohio where she worked in a physician’s office and attended The Ohio State School of Cosmetology where she obtained her license. She later worked for twenty-plus years at Willis Lumber Company as a secretary until her retirement. She was a faithful member at the Church of Christ on SR 38 in Washington CH and after moving to West Milton, she attended the Tipp City Church of Christ. Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed cooking, visiting with her family and friends, going to Church, and reading her Bible.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Milton Copeland, whom she married on August 12, 1961; and sisters, Shirley McCoy, and Peggy (Bruce) Terry.

Survivors include her children, Grachelle Renee James of Columbus, and Bruce Allen (Maggie) Copeland of West Milton; grandchildren, Caleb Andrew (Kailee) Copeland, and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Copeland; and siblings, Beverly (Don) Hudson of Nitro, West Virginia, and Bob (Yoly) McCoy of Sacramento, California. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Locust Grove Cemetery of Peebles with Robert Vincent, Pastor at Tipp City Church of Christ officiating. The family requests that those in attendance please wear a mask or other facial covering and follow social distancing guidelines.
