CECIL RAY CARTER, age 69, of Washington Court House, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Kobacker House in Columbus. He was born on April 24, 1954 in Urbana and was the son of the late Elias George and Jessie Pearl Smith Carter.
Cecil was a 1973 graduate of Miami Trace High School. He had worked at both Steelox Systems and Yusa Corporation in Washington Court House, he also worked in construction and laide fencing along the highway in Nashville, Tennessee. Cecil had attended the Washington Avenue House of Prayer. He liked football, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Tennessee Titans were his favorite teams. Cecil also enjoyed country music and watching all the good old westerns on the television.
Survivors include his daughter, Katie Carter of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Bailey and Willow; his sisters, Judy Fausnaugh, Linda McGuire and Sheryl Pirtle. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Ater and his step-father, John Ater.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Hope Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00-12:30 p.m. prior to departing to the cemetery.
