CHRISTOPHER MARK “CHRIS” HAWKINS, age 63, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at his home. His death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born on June 4, 1959, in Fayette County to the late Orville Edward and Rose Margaret (Grooms) Hawkins. He attended Miami Trace High School and later obtained his GED. Chris was a truck driver for Hummer Trucking based out of Williamsburg, Iowa. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed gardening, working on old cars, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Hawkins, Orville Eugene Hawkins, Marty Wayne Hawkins, and David Hawkins; nephew, Bronson Hawkins; sister-in-law, Janet Hawkins; brothers-in-law, Ted Dennis, Ron Purden, and Mike Gardner; and his beloved animals, Sparky and Ziggy.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue (Seitz) Hawkins, whom he married on December 22, 1999; his children, Christopher, Jr. (Lacey) Hawkins of Greenfield, and Shawnee (James) Patrick of Keystone, Florida; grandchildren, Ava Marie Hawkins, Jordan Grace Hawkins, Mia Elizabeth Hawkins, Hattie Mae Hawkins, Maddisyn Patrick, and Mason Patrick; step-children, Misty (Brett) Sanderson of Leesburg, and Charity Owens of Bainbridge; step-granddaughters, Veronica Sue Owens and Victoria Kay Owens; siblings, Mary Perkins, Barbara Dennis, Shirley Hawkins, Edith Gardner, Sharon Purden, John Hawkins, and Steve Hawkins; and his canine companions, Tater, Zoey, and Emma.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Duvall officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
