Cleotta V. Raines

CLEOTTA V. RAINES, age 91, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025 at her daughter’s home.

She was born on June 4, 1934 in Highland County to the late James Estel and Vera Selina (Hill) Adams. She was a graduate of Washington High School. Cleotta was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother for most of her life. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her kind, loving, gentle, and caring heart.

In addition to her parents, Cleotta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Val Raines, Jr., whom she married on January 15, 1954; and siblings, Paul Adams, Norman Adams, Betty Fulwider, and Eddie Adams.

Survivors include her children, Teresa (Steve) Merritt, and Rex (Karen) Raines; grandchildren, Kelli (Jason) Bullens, Tamika (Mark) Mallow, Staci Merritt, Clayton Raines, Allie Raines, and Torri Raines as well as several great grandchildren; and sister, Connie (Greg) Anderson. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highlawn Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating.
