CODY WAYNE CLAY, age 28, of Washington Court House, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was born in Highland County on June 14, 1995, to Jimmy (Lynn) Dulin and Leanne (Ronnie) Clay Haffner. On March 19, 2021, he married Emily R. Clay, who survives.
Cody was a 2014 graduate of Washington Senior High School and currently worked as an over the road semi-truck driver. Cody served in the United States Marine Corps. and had plans to re-enlist. He enjoyed doing community service projects, had previously served as a Little League Baseball Coach for his son’s team, and loved playing outside with his kids. Cody was known as a caring and loving father.
In addition to his parents and wife, Cody is survived by his children, Levi Krohn Clay, Hailey Peterson Clay, Blake Wayne Clay and Sophia Clay; his stepbrother, Branden Haffner; and his stepsister, Alexis Meddock. Also surviving are his father and mother in-law, Mike and Roxanne Krohn; is sisters in-law; Rachel (Todd) Fullmer and Sarah (Jordan) Miller, along with several nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Fayette County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
