CORA L. “BOOTS” (HOLLAR) HASTINGS MATTHEWS, age 97, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. at Court House Manor.
She was born on May 9, 1925 in Madison County to Charles and Helen (Morgan) Hollar. Boots and her late husband, Bob Hastings farmed in Mt. Sterling for most of their lives. She enjoyed being a housewife and cooking large meals for her family every Sunday in the “old brick house on the farm.”
Boots was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harry R. “Bob” Hastings, Sr.; son, Harry R. “Bob” Hastings, Jr.; grandson, Harry R. “Bobby” Hastings, III; siblings, Joseph, Keith, Motts, Harvey, John, and James Hollar, Frances Edwards, Arietta Timmons, Martha Follrod, Mary Brill, and Charlotte Jacobs; and her second husband, William M. Matthews.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Allen Neff; grandchildren, Stacey Neff, Sherry (Gary) Bogan, Kim (Jay) Smith, and Tracey (Roger) Maddux; great-grandson, Robbie Hastings; Robbie’s mother, Trisha Wise; Robbie’s sister, Melinda Wise; great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Cody, Connor, Matt, Weston, Josh, Jacob, and Kinzy; great-great-grandson, Harrison; special niece, Tamara Wallace; special nephew, Raymond Timmons; sister-in-law, Kaye Hollar; daughter-in-law, Vickie Hastings; and step-children, Patrick Matthews, Rita Matthews, and MaDonna Matthews. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and a host of dear and special friends.
The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Sterling with Mell Wickensimer officiating.
