DAVID LAVERNE AILLS, age 79, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 25, 2023 at his home, while surrounded by his family. David had been in failing health for the last two years.
He was born on December 23, 1943 in Fayette County to the late George Walker and Mary Elizabeth (Clay) Aills. He was a 1961 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. He lived his entire life in Fayette County and was lovingly known by all as “The Appliance Man.”
David was a retired school bus driver for Washington City Schools. He drove a bus for 32 years. David was also the owner and operator of Aills Appliance Repair for 49 years.
David was a faithful member of the Heritage Memorial Church for over 56 years. He served the Lord in many areas; teaching Sunday school, driving the church bus, Junior Church worker, youth group leader and treasurer, and nursery worker.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Betsy Bruce Speelman; father-in-law, Edward Bruce; and siblings, George Aills, Jr., Joe Aills, Huey Aills, Danny Aills, John Aills, Norma Stoddard, Mary Alice Moats, Charlotte Warrington, Nancy Bonecutter, and Louise Aills.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Stella J. (Bruce) Aills, whom he married on June 25, 1967; his children, David W. Aills, and Christina (Christopher) Taylor, both of Washington CH; grandchildren, Samantha (Brent) Shannon, CJ Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Breanna Taylor, Lindsy (Lyle) Sweeney, and Drew Aills; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Roslyn, Nova, Mara, Maddux, Nora, and Sloan; and sisters-in-law, Willadeen Free, Marlene (Rick) Martindale, and Ed (Teri) Bruce. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Church, 1867 US Highway 35 NW, Washington CH, OH 43160, with Rev. Joe Duvall and Joy Stanforth officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday evening from 4-7:00 p.m.
