DONALD EUGENE POLLOCK, SR., age 83 of Washington Court House, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2023. He was born May 24, 1940 in Jeffersonville to the late Arthur and Helen Goodwin Pollock. On August 23, 1959 he married the former Virginia Harper, who survives.
Farming was his life, starting in Highland County and retiring after thirty-two years on the Hedges Farm in Bloomingburg. He continued to serve his people by working at Swifty Gas Station before becoming the “Go to Guy” at Home Depot where he worked for thirteen more years. He enjoyed camping with his family at Cave Lake, fishing and enjoying mommas cooking around the fire with all his friends. His excursion with his “fishing buddy” was the highlight of his last few years.
In addition to his devoted wife of sixty-four years, Virginia Pollock he is survived by his sons, Robert Pollock of Michigan and Don “Gene” (Emily Wilson) of Washington C.H.; his daughter, JoAnn (Richard) Arques of Johnstown; his bonus daughter, Ruby (Brian) Lane of Frisco, Texas; his grandchildren, Brittany (Matt) Cooper, Arlana (Charles) Bolen, Tomi Kay (Thorin) Kneisley, Dawn (Michael) Cook, Jacob (Bryanna) Lane, Kylie Mc Gowan, Dakota (Morgan) Curtis, Katy Wright, Austin Pollock, Brooklyn (Zachery) Johnson and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Irvin (Carol) Pollock of Wilmington and Harry (Sue) Pollock of Washington C.H.; his uncle Andrew (Betty Jo) Pollock of Leesburg; his wonderful sisters and brother in laws; several adoring nieces and nephews and special friends, Nick Cummings Family, Joel Morris, Mell Wickensimer and Pastor Dan Justice. He didn’t know a stranger.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his in laws, Rev. Virgil and Mary Jo Harper; his son, John (JD) Pollock and his grandchildren, Joshua Pollock and Alexis Pollock.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday September 9, 2023 at the Fayette Bible Church, 1315 Dayton Ave, Washington C.H., OH, 43160 with burial to follow in Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday from 4-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to his wife, Virginia.
