Edward Hewitt Welton, Sr.

EDWARD HEWITT WELTON, SR., age 89, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at his home.

He was born on December 16, 1934 in Mullen, Nebraska to the late Edwin and Margaret (Osborne) Welton. Edward retired from Marley Cooling Towers. After retirement he farmed and raised farm animals. He enjoyed being on the farm, bailing hay, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his siblings, John Welton, Dan Welton, and Wanda Hagur.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise (Lindsey) Welton, whom he married on December 13, 1969; children, Edwina Louise (Robert) Woods, and Edward Hewitt Welton, Jr.; grandchildren, Maria Wilson, Dixie Carmen, Robert Woods, II, Matthew Woods, Tyler Welton, Christopher Welton, and Hailey Welton; great-grandchildren, Andalyn, Gabrielle, Emmett, and Chevy; and sister, Marjorie Gowey of Arizona. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Cochran Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
