GERALD WAYNE “JERRY” WRIGHT, age 81, of Washington Court House, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. Jerry was born on May 15, 1942 in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Benjamin L. and Virginia R. Loomis Wright. On July 6, 1976 he married the former Florence Brown who preceded him in death on January 9, 2011.
Survivors include his children, Lona Brown, Steve (Mary Lee) Daugherty, Peggy (Randy) Kirkpatrick and David (Annge) Daugherty; his grandchildren, Ashlee (Jesse) Jamison, Lindsey (Clinton) Worley, Dustin (Beth) Daugherty, Leslie (Michael) Norris, Jerika (Chris) Hodson, Treg (Abby) Brown and Alyssa (Kyle Fenner) Daugherty; his great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Charlie and Tommy Worley, Emma and Hudson Jamison, Hidy and Hallie Brown, Oliver and Waylon Norris, Saylor Hodson and Evie Daugherty and his sisters, Kathryn Stephenson and Julie Wright. Also surviving are his sisters and brothers in law, Mary and Michael Edwards, Patricia Brown and Ruthana and Jim Pease; his nieces, Elizabeth Glista, Amanda (Jason) Flowers and Heather Melton; his nephew, Robert Stephenson; special friend, Butch Witherspoon along with a host of friends.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Jerry was preceded in death by his nephew, James Stephenson.
Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Washington Senior High School and had retired after thirty plus years of service from Armco Steel where he had worked as a Maintenance Foreman. He was a veteran of The United States Army, was a founding 1957 member of the Dragin' Angels Car Club. Jerry had a passion for fast cars, and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. He loved his family and will always be remembered as a very loving and caring father, brother and grandfather.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in the Washington Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Fayette County Veterans Honor Guard.
