Homer Clark Castle, 82, of Washington Court House, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday July 24, 2023. Homer was born August 13, 1940 in Foxport, Kentucky to the late Dorman and Margaret Dillon Castle.
Homer graduated in 1958 from Maysville High School in Maysville, Kentucky. He graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1962. Homer was the math tutor for the Morehead State boys’ basketball team. At the end of his freshman year, he won the award for being the outstanding math student. In 1972, Homer earned a Master’s Degree in Education from The University of Cincinnati. Homer began his teaching career at Aberdeen Schools in 1962 where he taught Math. He also taught at Hamersville and Ripley schools. He then became the Brown County High School Supervisor. Homer was promoted to Brown County Superintendent of Schools where he started in 1984 and retired in 1995.
Homer also completed Postgraduate Studies at the University of Cincinnati, Xavier, Dayton and Ball State. Homer went on to teach graduate courses in School Administration, Educational Leadership and School Law for the University of Dayton.
Homer attended Heritage Memorial Church in Washington Court House, Ohio. Through the years of moving, Homer was a member of Maysville CCCU (Formerly known as Calvary Temple) in Maysville, KY; Hope Methodist in Dayton, OH; Parkview Nazarene in Kettering, OH; and New Spring in Springboro, OH.
Homer is survived by his loving wife Kathy Eldridge Castle for 56 years, his son Michael Castle and wife Ginger of Washington Court House, Ohio and grandchildren Lydia and Gideon and his daughter Rochelle (Castle) Massey of Winchester, Ohio and grandsons Keenan and Karsen. He is survived by his brother, James Castle and wife Carol.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his sister Francis Manning and husband Commodore and brother Charles Castle and wife Garnetta.
A funeral service for Homer will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 in the Heritage Memorial Church with Pastor’s Joy Stanforth and Clark Castle officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
