Jack Vernon Cartwright

JACK VERNON CARTWRIGHT, age 79, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 4:50 a.m. at his son’s home in Seffner, Florida while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 1, 1941 in Fayette County to Lloyd Henry and Nettie Florence (Coss) Cartwright. He was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School. Jack went on to pursue higher education at Wilmington College where he graduated in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry; and obtained a master’s degree in 1972 from the University of Dayton where he studied personnel management. After graduation, Jack moved to Chicago and was employed by the US Government where he was in charge of recruiting military personnel. After returning home, he worked in the coal business and was able to travel the country. Jack also owned and operated a retail store in Washington CH, AAA Appliances, where he worked until his retirement in 2008. He and his wife, Carol attended the Center Christian Church. Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed his work, had a passion for travel, and being with his family.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ted Cartwright and Gary Cartwright.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Carol Jean (Tyler) Mong-Cartwright; children, Nancy (Frank) Booth, Julie (Joe) Mattiko, Jennifer (Jason) Mickey, and Alan Mong; grandchildren, Zachary, Allyssa, Raven, Max, Pepper, Aiden, Nick, and Ben; and brother, Loren (Mary) Cartwright. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Center Christian Church, 7168 Garringer-Edgefield Rd., Jeffersonville, OH 43128, with Pastor Randy Lee officiating. Burial will be held at the Highlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
