James Richard "Jimmy" Hargo

JAMES RICHARD “JIMMY” HARGO, age 76, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 7:45 p.m. at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 23, 1945 in Fayette County to James William and Mary Alice (McClellan) Hargo. Jimmy retired from King Concrete of Columbus after many years of service. After retirement, Jimmy drove the transportation van for Washington City Schools, transporting students to and from school each day; he also drove part-time for Community Action. Jimmy was a proud lifelong Blue Lion. He was also a faithful member at the Rodgers Chapel AME Church. He enjoyed fishing, working in concrete, and most importantly, spending time with his beloved family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph Donald Wilson; and siblings, Rosemary Cole, Ailiene Saunders, and Melanie Pettiford.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Ann (Johns) Hargo, whom he married on July 6, 1974; children, Duane Alan (Treva) Wilson, and Jowanna Evette (Delvin) Hood; grandchildren, DJ Wilson, Brittany Thomas, James Wilson, Maria Wilson, Olivia Jackson, Isaac Hood, JD Self, and Patrick Wilson; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Mark (Sheila) Lamberson, and Michael (Sandra) Lamberson; and his grand-dog, Lilly. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Lee officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
