JAMES MELVIN HAKES, II, age 53 of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024. His death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born on September 15, 1970 in Fayette County to James Melvin Hakes and Hazel Marie (Stolzenburg) Poole. He was a 1989 graduate of Miami Trace High School. James was currently employed full-time at WCR Incorporated where he worked in shipping and receiving. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coin collecting.
James was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lula Belle Haines; stepfather, Lamond D. Poole; and brother-in-law, Randy Brown.
Survivors include his parents, James (Kay) Hakes, and Hazel Poole; his loving wife, Stephanie Elaine (Young) Hakes, whom he married on October 18, 1992; daughter, Mia Hakes; sister, Tina Brown; and stepsiblings, Monty (Cindy) Poole, Jay Poole, Monica (Eric) Gunderson, and Tonya (Steve) Thacker. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
