James Junior Pendergraft

JAMES JUNIOR PENDERGRAFT, age 88, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. at Fayette County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 24, 1932 in Fayette County to Charles and Mildred (Merritt) Pendergraft. James proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. James had worked at Mid-Ohio Chemical in maintenance for more than thirty-two years and retired from Airborne in Wilmington. James was a lifetime member at the VFW #3762. He enjoyed fishing and being with his family.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Jean (Mossbarger) Pendergraft, whom he married on March 18, 1955; siblings, Eddie Pendergraft, and Jewell R. Pendergraft Dilley; and his beloved canine, Cricket.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James “Jim” and Ginn Pendergraft; grandchildren, Michelle, Hayley, and Hayden; great-grandson, Sean; siblings, Jerry Pendergraft, Joyce Dilley, Jan VanBrunt, and JoAnn Deskins; sister-in-law, Betty Pendergraft; and his faithful canine companion, Pickles. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
