JAMES DONALD RUNNELS, age 90, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Court House Manor.
He was born on June 17, 1932, in Sabina, Ohio to the late Clyde W. and Geraldine B. (Cline) Runnels. After obtaining his GED, James enlisted himself into the US Marine Corps in February of 1951. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. James was a member of the American Legion Post 25 and the Fish and Game Association. He had worked as a freight dock supervisor at Wilson Motor Freight in South Charleston and Forward Air in Grove City. His true passion was owning and operating The Bake Shop in Greenfield. He loved to bake for his friends and family and always spearheaded family get-togethers. He enjoyed catfishing, shooting at the gun range with his buddies, and spending many hours tending to his garden.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Ann (Wyatt) Runnels and several step-siblings.
Survivors include his children; Jeriann (Runnels) Cory, James C. (Robyn) Runnels, William D. (Katie) Runnels, Robert A. (Lana) Runnels, and Patricia Diane Runnels; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Helen L. (Runnels) Abrams of St. Cloud, Florida; and step-sister, Mary (Morris) Fisher of Columbus, Ohio.
The memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Crossroads Christian Church, 175 Halliday Way, Washington CH, OH 43160. Family and friends may visit at the church on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at the Washington Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
