Janet Lucille Hawkins

JANET LUCILLE HAWKINS, age 82, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 at her home. She was born on April 30, 1941 in Madison County and was the daughter of the late William H. and Cora E. Rockwell Arledge.

Janet had worked at the Court View Restaurant in Washington CH for many years and had been a member of the New Holland Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling to the Casino’s and playing the slot machines, listening to old country music, crocheting, reading and having a good time. Janet also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Cathy Vanzant of Huber Heights, Cindy Jay of Washington CH, Troy Lindsey of Chillicothe and Tracie Lindsey of California; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her significant other of more than twenty years, Steve Althouse of Washington CH; and her siblings, David (Nancy) Arledge, Mary Lou (Gary) Althouse, Bill Arledge, and Janie Nance.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hawkins and sisters, Norma Jean Rohrer, and Erma Ingles.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the New Holland Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
