Janet Marciel Murphy

JANET MARCIEL MURPHY, age 54, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Adena Fayette Medical Center Emergency Department. Her death was sudden and unexpected.

She was born on September 20, 1971 in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late Raymond Eugene and Norma Jean (Hall) Howland. She attended Miami Trace High School. Janet had worked as a clerk at the gas station in Midway for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her siblings, Linda Harris, Layton Howland, James Howland, Sue Blair, Gary Howland, and Kitty Collins.

Survivors include her husband, Benny Ray Murphy, Jr.; her children, Alicia Murphy, Miranda (Mike) Cottrell, Benny Ray, III (Hunter) Murphy, Daniel (Haleigh) Murphy, and Joseph (Nevaeh) Murphy; eleven grandchildren; and siblings, Verda Smith, and Tony Howland. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Travis Potts officiating with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
