Jennifer Jean Jones

JENNIFER JEAN JONES, age 74, of Washington CH, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Select Specialty Hospital Columbus South.

She was born on April 16, 1951 in Ross County, Ohio to the late William “Bill” and Sylvia “June” (Sprouse) Jones. She was a 1969 graduate of Miami Trace High School. She worked as a manager and hairstylist at Christine’s Beauty Salon for eighteen years. She had also worked at the YUSA Corporation and as a medical records supervisor at Pickaway Correctional Institution. She loved interacting with people; and she also had a deep love in her heart for animals. Her beloved dogs, Marley, Noodles, and Lilly; and her cats, Messker, Maisie, Fonzie, Jasper, and June Bug. Jennifer was known for having a “green thumb,” she loved to garden and tend to her flowers. She also loved to cook and host family holiday meals; she could out eat most grown men. She was very out going with a good soul, you always knew where you stood with her, she never held back her advice or fiery opinion and was lovingly known by her family as “June Junior.”

In addition to her parents, Jennifer was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brian Heath Grooms.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David Travis and Tonya Funk; grandchildren, David R., Sarah, and Chelsea Funk; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Aubrey, and Milo; siblings, Barbara Ann Jones, and Bill (Debbie) Jones; and aunt, Catherine M. “Kate” Rinehart. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
