John Jackson Obituary

JOHN R. JACKSON, age 75, of Washington CH, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11:54 p.m. at Mount Carmel Grove City.

He was born on February 20, 1946, in Greenfield, Ohio to Robert and Charlene (Payne) Jackson. He was a 1964 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School in Greenfield. After high school, John immediately enlisted in the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era. John retired from Lucent Technologies, formerly Western Electric based out of Columbus. He was an active member at Heritage Church and through the years he did his part in sharing the Word of God for the greater good of the Kingdom of Heaven. John was recently approved for his local preacher’s license certificate through Heritage Church. He was also an asset to Chaplain Dee Davis and Signature Nursing Home in Washington CH. The residents looked forward to his church services.

John was also very well known in the community for the countless hours he spent refereeing, coaching, driving the school bus, assisting in many local classroom settings and was described as, “one of the best teaching assistants in the district”, taking tickets at sporting events, nurturing his plants with his “green thumb”, his superb bread making skills, and most importantly to him, sharing the love and Word of God and the saving grace gifted to him through Jesus Christ. His favorite and most glorious times were when he was in the pages of the powerful, unchanging, God-breathed scriptures, getting as close to God as he could while here on earth.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Joy Jackson, whom he married on October 5, 1968; son, Stephen Charles Jackson; and sister, Roberta “Toots” Patrick.

Survivors include his children, Scott (Lynnette) Jackson of Arizona, Jason (Melissa) Jackson, Matthew (Kim) Jackson of Washington CH, Allison Jackson of Florida, and Darrell (Molly) Harris of Delaware; grandchildren, Dionte, Tylah, Lil’ Scott, Jalyn, Kason, Garyn, Trevor, Johnny, Raven, Mattylen, Tamara, and Braxton; siblings, Rita Jackson, and Carolyn Hill; sisters-in-law, LaDonna Jackson, and Nicole “Kandy” (Tony) Woodford; brothers-in-law, Tony (Ruth) Striblin, Randy Jackson, and Tommy (Cathy) Jackson; nieces and nephews; Loronda, Tina, Kevin, Aimee, Brian, Angie, Erika, Jessica, Quinnton, CeCe, Logan, Stacy, Tony, Bryce, Brock, Ernie, Stephanie, Megan, Turahn, Tony, Larry, and Nedra; and his daughter in Christ, Taylor Ball.
