JOHN WADE JR., age 90, of South Salem, passed away from this life on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 12:15 a.m. at his home.
He was born on October 11, 1929 in Madison County to John and Eulalia Pope Wade. John was self-employed and worked as a plumber for many years. He was a member of several antique and collectable clubs. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming, collecting toy tractors, and had a love for animals.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and mother of his children, Martha Marie Dawes Wade, whom he married on December 22, 1950; son, Jesse Lee Wade; three sisters; two brothers; father and mother-in-law, Amos and Mildred Dawes, and Opal Dawes; four sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.
Survivors include his children, Vicki Ann Wade-Knisley, Jacqueline Lyn (Edward) Cobb, and Dinah Rose (Rick Boggs) Wade; grandchildren, Jason Knisley, John Baker III, April (Duane) Maynard, Damita Nicole (Kenny) Kniceley, Kyle Boggs, Jessica (Heather) Fryer, and Johnna Wade; great-grandchildren, Brittany Maynard, Keenon Kniceley, Jared Kuhn, Jenna Kuhn, Brooklyn Wade, and Kenneth Wade; sister, Grace Roush; daughter-in-law, Mary Wade; and sisters-in-law, Frances Wade, Norma (Lonnie) Adkins, and Helen (Gene) Vernon; and brothers-in-law, Charles (Goldie) Dawes, and Martin (Dianna) Smith. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Summers Funeral Home to help cover final expenses.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at the Hidy Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
