JOLEEN KELLEY, age 87, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington CH with her son by her side.
She was born on March 9, 1933 in Clinton County to John and Ethel (Pratt) Chaney. She had attended Washington High School. Joleen devoted her life to her precious husband of 72 years, who passed just 23 days prior to her. She retired from the Fisher’s Big Wheel Department Store located in Washington CH. After retirement, she babysat for many of her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous other children in the community, including, Chris McCoppin, who became part of the family.
Joleen worked closely with her husband breeding Standardbred Horses. She was a long-time member of the United States Trotting Association (USTA). Joleen owned and raced her own horses throughout the years.
Joleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Gene Kelley; daughter, Sandy Smith; grandson, Robbie Dean Kelley; and brother, Billy Chaney.
Survivors include her sons, Jeff (Belma) Kelley, and Randy (Linda Ramsey) Kelley; son-in-law, Jay Smith; grandchildren, Ben (Joni) Smith, Andy (Jenelle Bailey) Smith, Brandon Williams, Dylan (Heidi) Kelley, Angus Kelley, Ryan (Patricia) Kelley, and Sarah Kelley; great-grandchildren, Keely, Elvi, Judah, Wilder, Wyatt, AJ, Alex, Marley, and Emma; and siblings, Phyllis Mustine, and Bonnie Baughn. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating.
