JORETTA ROSE “JETTY” EDWARDS, age 81, of Washington CH, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born on January 21, 1944 in Good Hope, Ohio to the late Walter W. and Doris A. (Straley) Custer. She was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School. Jetty worked as a sales associate at Buckeye Mart, Fishers Big Wheel, and Stage Department Store; but her most important job was babysitting her four grandchildren. She was a faithful member at the Church of Christ on St Rt 38; she took immense pride in the upkeep of the church grounds and the building itself. She enjoyed being an active member at the YMCA, traveling with her husband; they once rode their motorcycle to Nova Scotia, and spending time with her beloved family.
In addition to her parents, Jetty was preceded in death by her siblings, Coralee Custer, Justina Marvin Fisher, Nancy (Jordan) Ritenour, and Donald (Kay) Custer.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, David H. Edwards, whom she married on January 22, 1966; daughters, Rikki (Brian) Zurface, and Dawn (Wes) Wilson; grandchildren, Carli (Brian) Schatmeyer, Zach (Harmonee) Zurface, Sydney (Danny) Berry, and Kelsey (Luke) Creditt; great-grandchildren, Everley, Hadley, Zavier, and Kenadee; and siblings, Emma Dell White, and Cindy Morgan. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ on St Rt 38 with Dan Collier officiating with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Family and friends may visit at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2-5:00 p.m.
