LARRY CHARLES STROUP, age 81, of Bloomingburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026 at his home.
He was born on February 15, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Charles P. and Mary E. (Nevil) Stroup. He was a graduate of Miami Trace High School. Larry retired from truck driving. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, gardening, collecting cars, spending time with his family, and his family said, “He never knew a stranger!”
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his children, Kimberly Stroup, Rocky Stroup, Jr., and Cody Stroup; granddaughter, Rachel McGraw; and great-grandson, Miller McGraw.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Mary Eileen (Runnels) Stroup, whom he married on February 23, 1985; his children, Lorry Stroup, and Jason Hawkins; grandchildren, Mark Rittenhouse, Matthew Stroup, Megan Stroup, Autumn Hawkins, and Peyton Hawkins; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Barbara Wood, Ronald (Vivian) Stroup, Linder Stroup, and Mary (Chris) Miller. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice for the excellent care they provided while Larry was in his final days.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Sandy Parrish officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In keeping with his wishes, cremation is to follow.
