LINDA KAY (DEEDS) SHAW, age 85, of Washington CH, went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington CH where she had been a patient for four days.
She was born on April 28, 1938 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late William R. and Mary E. (Mathias) Deeds. She was a 1956 graduate of Lancaster High School. Linda married her sweetheart; Jerry J. Shaw on June 24, 1956. They moved to Canal Winchester to be within driving distance of Jerry’s job with Producers Livestock in Columbus. In 1973, Jerry and Linda moved to Washington CH.
Linda quickly became involved in many activities at Fayette Bible Church including teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, helping with Vacation Bible School and serving on the Women’s Fellowship Team. Linda became secretary at Fayette Bible Church and Fayette Christian School. She had served as a poll worker and presiding judge for the Fayette County Board of Elections. She also volunteered with the Diabetic Association, delivered Meals on Wheels, assisted with Three Mom’s Catering, and was a Census Enumerator for the US Census Bureau.
Linda’s love for cooking and sewing prompted her to become a 4H Advisor for Helpful Homemakers until she started her own club known as the Clever Clovers and served as an advisor for twelve years.
Linda once told her daughter that her greatest satisfaction in life was being a housewife and taking care of her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed preparing meals, attending the grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, listening to her children's and grandchildren’s concerns and always giving her opinion even if it wasn’t what they wanted to hear. She prayed for them fiercely and loved seeing them become responsible adults. She was a devoted servant to her Lord, her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Shaw of Texas; sister, Sally Eichhorn of Maryland; and her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Vivian Shaw of Logan, Ohio.
Survivors include her loving husband, Jerry J. Shaw; children, Mark A. (Shelly) Shaw, Bret S. (Debra) Shaw, Trent E. (Gina) Shaw, and Kristen L. (Glenn) Conn; grandchildren, Brice (Kristy) Shaw, Devon (David) Abood, Joshua (Milyn) Humphreys, Bradley (Carrie) Shaw, Casey Shaw and his fiancé, Loren Knisley, Derek (Cori) Shaw, Ethan (Savannah) Conn, and Kyler Conn; great-grandchildren, Lewis Shaw, Griffin Shaw, Riley Bland, Caleb Shaw, Liam Humphreys, Bryar Shaw, Hudson Shaw, Gavin Shaw, Greyson Shaw, Parker Shaw, and Cash Conn; brother-in-law, Dave Eichhorn; niece, Kathy (Steve) Widner and nephew, Tim (Tami) Eichhorn. Also surviving are several cousins and a host of dear and special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fayette Bible Church with Pastor Tony Garren and Pastor Michael Conn officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. The burial will be held at a later date at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester.
