Lula B. Rhoades

REV. LULA B. RHOADES, age 83, previously of Washington Court House, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Autumn Years Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Sabina. She was born on February 8, 1940 in Fayette County to the late Ora and H. Maudell Ruff Leisure.

Lula had worked as an Avon Representative for many years and was member of the Presidents Club of Avon as a result of her high sales. Lula had attended the Family Community Church in Jeffersonville and enjoyed gardening. She especially enjoyed making artificial flower arrangement for her customers to decorate their loved one’s graves on Memorial Day. Lula also enjoyed being on the road, often driving, in the semi-truck with her husband Kenneth.

Survivors include her children, Teresa (Philip Huffman) Webb, Billy Joe (Barb Branham) Morris and Matthew Morris; her grandchildren, Megan Myers, Joseph (Cristen) Morris, Jesse (Eric Rowe) Morris, Rhea Webb, Nicole (Robbie Mader) Morris and Cynthia (Jonah McCoy) Morris; her great-grandchildren, Jaxon Rowe, Luna McCoy, Craig Mader, Alex Mader, Wayne Ross, Blair Myers, Nora Jean Morris, Justice Cox and Allison Cox; her brothers, Don Leisure and William (Heidi Pulk) Cox and two half-sisters, Colleen Jackson and Jean Ann Woods-Gatz. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Teresa Kelley.

Along with her parents, Lula is preceded in death by her son, David Morris; her first husband, Eugene Morris and her second husband, Rev. Kenneth Rhoades. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Ora Jr., Paul, Daryl and Dean Albert Leisure and her sister, Mary Jane Noble.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Barth officiating with burial to follow in the Good Hope Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations made in Lula’s name be sent to: ProMedica Hospice, 208 N. Fayette Street, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
