MABEL F. “RED” GILLETT, age 93, of Washington CH, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
She was born on October 26, 1929 in Fayette County to Otto and Esta (Alltop) Ratliff of Milledgeville. Born the oldest of seven children, Red spent most of her life in Fayette County, working at Fayette County Memorial Hospital and several years as a home health aide. She and her husband Lucky were members at the Gregg St. Church of Christ in Christian Union and Heritage Memorial Church.
In addition to her parents, Red is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon “Lucky” Gillett. Also preceding her in death are three brothers, James Ratliff, Carl “Charlie” Ratliff, and Robert Ratliff and four sisters, Joanne (Ratliff) LaValva, Claire (Ratliff) Coburn, Donna Belle Ratliff, and Martha McDonald, as well as one infant sibling.
She leaves behind a daughter, Barbara Gillett of Washington CH and son Jeff (Choy) Gillett of Asheville, North Carolina. Additionally, Red leaves behind seven grandchildren, Chris (Kelli) Chambers, Zak (Sierra) Chambers, Josh (Jessica) Chambers, Seth (Cyndi) Chambers, Aaron (Leslie) Gillett, Justin Gillett, and Kennedy Gillett as well as her great-grandchildren, Addison, Hank, Lyla, Casey, Brydon, Ayla, Cylas, Lync, Letty, Indy, and Bodie.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Seymour officiating with burial to follow at the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
