Martin Curtis Smith, I Obituary

MARTIN CURTIS SMITH, I, age 74, of Washington Court House, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Adena Fayette Medical Center. Born on November 12, 1949, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Amos and Mildred Elliott Dawes.

Martin attended Miami Trace Schools, retired from the Yusa Corporation in Washington C.H. in 2015 and was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed yard work, caring for his lawn and beautiful flower garden.

Survivors include his children, Melinda Majors, Martin Smith II and Samantha Smith all of Washington C.H.; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Leonard (Danna) Smith of Goshen, Brenda (Larry) Wright, Chuck (Goldie) Dawes and Norma (Lonnie) Adkins both of Washington C.H. and his K-9 companion, “Baby”.

In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his wife, the former Diana Beedy, and his daughter, Leanna Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in the Washington Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the Fayette County Honor Guard. No visitation prior to the service will be held.
