Mary Gail Payton

MARY GAIL PAYTON, age 62, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.

She was born on April 27, 1960 in Peru, Indiana to the late William E. and Mary M. (Seymour) Robinson. Mary lived most of her life in this area and had worked as an aide at the former Rosemont Court Group Home. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, sitting on her porch, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene Payton, whom she married on December 21, 1984; and siblings, Rachael (Robert) Duncan, Ethel Robinson, William Robinson, Roy Robinson, and Ora Robinson.

Survivors include her children, David Payton, Leslie Payton, and Miranda Payton; grandchildren, Christopher, Madison, Arianna, Davante, and Lillian; and siblings, James Seymour, Retha (James) Payton, Ernest Robinson, and Sarah (DeLynn) Kratzer. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
